A fellow Canadian team has been named as a potential landing spot for Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland, whose name has popped up in trade rumors recently.

One player that many have their eye on at the moment is 29-year-old forward Conor Garland, who signed a contract extension with the club last summer, but with the Canucks entering a rebuild, could potentially be moved, either before the deadline next month or prior to July 1st, when his full no-movement clause kicks in.

“There’s been some discussion about Conor Garland, but I’ve heard the preference is to keep him. Another incredibly competitive guy who works. It comes down to someone making an offer they can’t say no to.” Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman said in November.

In an article this week for Canucks Army, Stephan Roget looked at which teams could show interest in Conor Garland ahead of the trade deadline, which is now less than two weeks away, and if the forward is made available by Patrik Allvin, there certainly won’t be a shortage of clubs that’ll want to get their hands on the two-time 20-goal scorer.

Among the teams Roget thinks would have interest in Conor Garland include fellow Canadian club the Ottawa Senators, who would probably like to add some more scoring depth as they push for a second consecutive appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

“Bringing in Garland would instantly knock the likes of Nick Cousins and Mike Amadio out of the Senators’ top nine, which makes them a better team. His age matches decently well with their established core of forwards, and his skills should still be relevant to their attempts to get more and more competitive over the next couple of years.” Roget said.

Garland, a native of Scituate, Massachusetts, isn’t having the season he would’ve hoped, as is the case with most of the team’s players and with the Canucks wanting to get younger, it might not be a bad idea to at least field offers on him before his contract extension kicks in this summer because after that, they will have an extremely tough time trying to find a landing spot.
