A significant fight is off the Mario Barios vs. Ryan Garcia card today.
IBF super lightweight champion Richardson Hitchins is out of his scheduled co-main event title defense against Oscar Duarte. Hitchins suffered an unknown illness and was unable to fight.

Hitchins and Duarte had done the mandatory same-day IBF weigh-in. Both guys had to come within ten pounds of the 140-pound weight limit. Hitchins came in at 149.4 while Duarte was 149.6.
The 28-year-old Hitchins was looking to make his second title defense after capturing the title from Liam Paro in December 2024. He stopped former unified lightweight champion George Kambosos in June.
Now, his second title defense will have to wait.
Gary Antuanne Russell’s junior welterweight title bout against Andy Hiraoka will now be moved to the co-main event.
In the main event, Mario Barrios and Ryan Garcia will face each other in a battle for the WBC Welterweight Title.

Barrios is set to defend his belt for the fourth time against the social-media sensation looking to get his career firmly pointing back up.
Ryan Garcia let it be known during Friday’s press conference that he’s “ready now as a person and as a fighter” to be the best world champion he could be.
To take the next step, ‘King Ry’ will look to dethrone WBC welterweight world champion Mario Barrios at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and live on Main Event and DAZN PPV (Sunday afternoon AEDT).
Garcia (24-2, 20 KOs) is coming off a disappointing, underwhelming performance in a unanimous decision loss at the hands of Rolando Romero back in May.
The defeat had ‘King Ry’ squandering his opportunity to become the WBA ‘regular’ welterweight world champion as he will aim to secure a 147-pound crown this time around.
To do that, Garcia will have to devise a way to defeat a rugged Barrios (29-2-2, 18 KOs) who is winless in his last two fights, having scrapped his way to back-to-back draws. That includes a hard-fought draw against a 46-year-old Manny Pacquiao back in July as Barrios kept the WBC title wrapped around his waist.
