Police have arrested an eighth suspect in relation to a home invasion last summer in the Hillsdale area, east of Huntsville.

On July 1, shortly before 5 a.m., police responded to reports of an armed home invasion at a residence. The investigation eventually prompted the closure of Highway 11 in both directions between Severn River and Coopers Falls roads and between Canning and Graham roads.

On Tuesday, Median Jackson, 32, of Brampton, was charged with the following:


Robbery using a firearm (restricted or prohibited) — three counts
Kidnapping while using a firearm (confine)
Forcible confinement — two counts
Assault with a weapon
Pointing a firearm
Using a firearm while committing an offence
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Theft of a motor vehicle
Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence

The accused remains in custody and has a Feb. 25 court date in Bracebridge.

Huntsville OPP believes additional suspects, who might be armed and dangerous, remain at large.
