Two people were taken to hospital after an early-morning fire at a building in Edmonton’s Rossdale neighbourhood on Monday.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) tells CityNews that firefighters were called to the blaze at 104 Street and 97 Avenue shortly before 4 a.m.
Six firefighting crews remained on scene by late Monday morning trying to get the fire under control.
Traffic was impacted by closures as a result. Westbound 97 Avenue was closed from Rossdale Road to 105 Street while eastbound 97 Avenue was down to a single lane.
Southbound lanes on Bellamy Hill were closed from 97 Avenue to 99 Avenue.
Edmonton Police Service officers were on scene providing traffic support.
“Please avoid the area and find alternate routes, and we appreciate your patience,” Edmonton police said.
