South Tramore: A Clubbing Legacy
South in Tramore opened its doors in October 2001. It quickly became a powerhouse in Irish nightlife. The venue held 2,200 people and was the country’s largest club at the time. Crowds travelled from across Ireland to experience something special in Waterford.
For a few unforgettable years, South defined dance culture in the Southeast. It delivered world-class DJs and electric atmospheres every weekend.
South built its reputation by booking the biggest names in electronic music. Legends like Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez and Sasha all played to packed dancefloors.
The club also welcomed Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Dave Clarke and Slam. Fans danced to sets from Green Velvet, Layo & Bushwacka!, Boy George, Derrick Carter and Mauro Picotto.
Each night created memories that still spark conversations across the Déise.
South Tramore changed Irish nightlife forever. It brought global talent to a local dancefloor. The 25 Year Anniversary celebrates more than a party. It honours a movement, a memory and a generation of clubbers.
If you danced in South, this night belongs to you. If you missed it, you can feel the energy again now.
