Lulu Épicerie

Lulu Épicerie is a Sud-Ouest staple that lives up to the hype. It’s part of a new generation of elevated fast-casual shawarma in Montreal, showing that the cuisine can exist in the space between formal Lebanese restaurants like Bayrut or KazaMaza, and Boustan, the shawarma equivalent of a greasy spoon diner that serves as a late-night hero for the after-club crowd. The menu at Lulu’s is extensive, with the shawarma being an obvious highlight, but the manakish — a lesser-known Lebanese dish similar to a flatbread pizza — is another star. (2507 Notre-Dame W.)
