Ajla Tomljanovic vs Iva Jovic prediction
Ajla Tomljanovic defeated veteran Venus Williams in the first-round of the ATX Open and is through to the next stage of the tournament. A competitive first set saw Williams go up a break on two occasions, but the Australian would go in front after reeling off the last three games. The second set was far more straight-forward for Tomljanovic as she sealed a 6-4 6-1 win. This was her first match since competing at the Australian Open.
She now faces second seed Iva Jovic, who defeated Anna Blinkova in the previous round. The 18-year-old saved all seven break points she offered up as she won 6-4 6-4. Jovic has been one of the standout players of the season so far, having made the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time in Melbourne, along with a run to the final in Hobart.
Tomljanovic is an experienced competitor but Jovic will be expected to come through this in straight sets. She is now a clear favourite for this title following Jessica Pegula’s withdrawal.
