Councillor Santos Launches Urgent Public Survey on Petty Theft

BRAMPTON, ON – Councillor Rowena Santos is calling on residents to speak up as reports of petty theft continue to rise across neighbourhoods in Brampton.

From late-night car door checks to stolen Amazon packages and missing tools from sheds and garages, more residents are contacting her office and posting incidents online to warn their neighbours. While the Region has invested in 300 new frontline officers in 2025 and 175 more in 2026, along with new police stations under construction, Santos says statistics alone do not reflect the growing concern families are feeling.

“When someone tries to open your car door in the middle of the night or steals a package from your porch, it shakes your sense of safety at home,” said Santos. “By hearing directly from residents, we can work together with Peel Police and our Community Safety & Well-Being Office on practical solutions that respond to what’s happening in our neighbourhoods.”

The survey will gather information on where incidents are occurring, how frequently they are happening, and what prevention measures residents want prioritized. Feedback will help inform next steps.

Residents are encouraged to complete the survey today at bcity.ca/crime or by scanning the QR code.
