Montreal is famous for its smoked meat, and that special flavour has arrived in the western GTA.

Rock’N Deli, which has operated successfully in Quebec since 1992, recently opened at Square One in Mississauga.

Now it has found a home in Oakville at 530 Speers Road. A grand opening will be held at this location on March 7.

In a crowded deli market in Montreal, Rock’N Deli has emerged as a player and, since its founding, has grown to 13 franchise locations in Quebec and Ontario, with Oakville becoming the latest addition to the food service chain.

Starting in the Montreal suburb of Laval, the operators of Rock’N Deli created their own recipe for smoked meat using traditional family recipes that have allowed them to compete with long-time smoked meat mainstays such as Schwartz’s, Dunn’s, Reuben’s and Lester’s.

Oakville customers will find that the sandwiches come loaded with the main ingredient that is typically served on rye bread with mustard and served in three styles: the traditional smoked meat sandwich, the Reuben (with smoked meat, Swiss cheese, cabbage and special sauce), and “The Smokey,” which comes on a brioche bun.

While smoked meat is the specialty, Rock’N Deli also has an expanded menu where you can find several varieties of smash burgers, club and sub sandwiches, poutine with numerous toppings, chicken wings and sides such as onion rings, jalapeños poppers, churros, and mozzarella sticks.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day of the week. Complete menu items can be found here.

On March 7, the store is offering two-for-one specials on selected items.
