Week 10 in the CFL wraps up on Saturday night with a marquee matchup between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium.

Calgary has already beaten Winnipeg twice since Canada Day, and my Blue Bombers vs. Stampeders predictions are backing the Stamps to win again.

Here are my best free CFL picks for this West Division clash on Saturday, August 9.

Blue Bombers vs Stampeders prediction

My Blue Bombers vs Stampeders pick: Stampeders -4.5 (-105 at BET99)

This will be the third time in six weeks that the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will lock horns with the Calgary Stampeders.

Winnipeg was stomped in the previous two meetings, losing 37-16 at McMahon Stadium in Week 5 before coming off a bye to get embarrassed 41-20 at home in Week 7. The Bombers shot themselves in the foot in those contests (10 turnovers).

It won’t be easy to sweep a team as talented and well-coached as Winnipeg in a three-game season series. That said, I can’t trust a Bombers side that has been extremely sloppy all year, turning the ball over a league-high 25 times.

The Bombers were fortunate to come away with a win vs. the Argos in Week 9, as they needed a pair of 90+ yard returns from Trey Vaval.

The Stamps are fresh off an ugly loss in Ottawa. They were in a brutal scheduling spot and were without quarterback and MOP candidate Vernon Adams Jr. Giveaways from backup pivot P.J. Walker made things tough for the defense, but this stop unit has looked like the best in the league for most of the year.

That D should shine against a Bombers offense struggling to generate big plays or consistently move the chains. Winnipeg was awful with Chris Streveler at QB last week. However, the truth is, it hasn’t been much better with Zach Collaros running the show.

The two-time MOP has the second-lowest pass efficiency among qualifying QBs and has thrown eight picks in just 15 quarters of play.

Meanwhile, Calgary’s balanced attack should thrive with Adams returning this week. He’s tied for the CFL lead with 10.2 yards per pass attempt and will shred a Winnipeg secondary that’s been getting torched.

The thing with turnover-prone offenses like the Bombers is that they often lead to quick points going the other way. In addition, poor coverage and sloppy tackling have led to defensive lapses for Winnipeg, and I’m not sure there’s an immediate fix for that.

That said, I do expect Winnipeg’s offense to find its footing and become more efficient. As stingy as Calgary’s defense has been, there are some key injuries the Bombers can exploit.

Jaylon Hutchings is the highest-rated DT in the league, per PFF, and is questionable with a calf injury. Additionally, Adrian Greene (the second-highest-rated DB) will be sidelined by a leg injury. I’m leaning towards the Over in this SGP.
