UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria isn’t concerned about the threat of Arman Tsarukyan if the two clash in a title showdown.
Right now, Ilia Topuria is one of the scariest fighters in all of mixed martial arts. He’s earned that reputation as a result of his blockbuster knockout wins over Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira, in three victories that cemented him as one of the best pound for pound athletes in all of combat sports.

Following on from his recent time off, Topuria seems set to lock horns with interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje later this year. However, while that’s the bout that makes sense, many felt as if Arman Tsarukyan should have been part of the interim title fight at UFC 324.
As their rivalry continues to intensify, Topuria used a recent interview with Adin Ross to give his thoughts on potentially fighting Tsarukyan in the future.
Topuria isn’t concerned by threat of Tsarukyan
“[Arman Tsarukyan is] my toughest challenge? No way,” Topuria said during a live stream with Adin Ross. “I’ve already had my toughest challenges.
“I don’t like to say who he fought, because there’s not an easy fight in the UFC. Everyone is a tough opponent. That’s one of the reasons why they’re fighting in the biggest promotion in the world. But he lost to Islam [Makhachev]. He lost to [Mateusz] Gamrot. He got knocked out in the beginning of his career. And he doesn’t really have the ability to finish the fight. He only finishes the fights when his opponent gets tired, and he just goes on the ground and does the ground and pound and all that.
“But if he faced someone who really has that preparation, has that cardio, he doesn’t get scared if he goes to the ground, he’s going to suffer.”
