The Colorado College women’s soccer team kicks off the 2025 season with a trip to Boulder, Colo., to take on the University of Colorado in an exhibition game on Thursday at 7 p.m.
CC enters its 49th season, fourth under head coach Keri Sanchez, to build off last season’s success that ended with the most wins in five years and a City For Champions Cup victory.
“We enter this season excited about the blend of returning experience and new energy,” Sanchez said. “The team arrived fit and prepared for the challenges of pre-season, and we look forward to being tested by a strong and experienced CU team.”
A Look Back
CC went 8-9-3 last season and ended the year on a high note by winning the City For Champions Cup for the first time by defeating the Air Force Academy 2-1.
The eight wins last season are the most in a season for CC since 2019 and the most under head coach Keri Sanchez.
The Tigers went 7-1-3 at Stewart Field for a home win percentage of .773, the best mark since the 2014 season.
The Tigers had 21 players who were named to the Academic All-Mountain West Team. It’s the third most in program history and was tied for the highest amount of any women’s soccer program.
Roster Construction
The 2025 roster is heavy in the junior and sophomore classes. CC has nine juniors, eight sophomores, six freshmen and four seniors set to take the pitch this season.
Seniors Emily Hitt and Gracie Huebner are both returning for their fifth season, as Kylie Smith and Makenna Kolson round out the senior class.
Forward Kendall Memoly leads the junior class after racking up 11 points (5g, 1a) last season, tied for second on the team. The Laguna Hills native was named to the 2025 Mountain West Watch List.
Goalkeeper Regan Wallace and sophomore Finley Schoenbeck were the other Tigers named to the MW Watch List. Wallace made 75 saves in 2024, the fifth most in the conference, and had a save percentage of .753. She recorded a career-high six shutouts, the fifth most among all Mountain West goalkeepers.
Schoenbeck led all first-year players and was second on the team with five goals and 11 points last year. The Spicewood, Texas native has the highest shot-on-goal percentage of 57.9 percent among all players with at least 10 shots.
Sanchez brought in three transfers during the offseason. Sophomore Nadia Cassamajor played her first college year at College of the Holy Cross and made four starts.
Junior forward Eden Palkovic played the 2023 and 2024 seasons at Iowa Central Community College. She was named the 2024 ICCAC Division II Player of the Year after playing in 17 games and logging her 26 goals off only 32 shots.
Junior forward Pressly Taylor played the last two years at Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., where she led the Trappers with 28 goals, 17 assists and 72 shots during her tenure.
Among the stacked freshmen class are names like forward Kate Pulley, who was the Utah high school leading scorer with 35 goals in 2024. On the defensive side are additions like Lily Smith, who is a four-time high school state champion and tri-sport athlete for Rye Country Day School in Rye, N.Y.
Year Four
Keri Sanchez enters her fourth year at the helm, along with assistant coaches Kelsey Brouwer, Chris Dodd and Frankie LaManna.
Sanchez has an 18-29-10 record in her first three seasons, eight of those wins coming last year, the most since taking over as head coach.
Brouwer, Dodd, and LaManna all return for their second season after joining the staff in 2024. Dodd and Brouwer came in the summer, while LaManna joined mid-season, all helping lead the Tigers to the most wins in the last five years.
The Landscape
The Tigers play only 18 regular-season games this year compared to last season’s 20 games. Seven games this year will be at Stewart Field, with the final “home” game being played at Weidner Field for the annual City For Champions Cup, where CC and Air Force switch being the home team every year.
CC will play eight non-conference games before the conference opener on Sept. 25 at New Mexico. Five of the first eight games will be on the road, including the season opener on Aug. 14 at New Mexico State.
The Tigers were picked to finish 10th in the Mountain West Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
CC’s first home game is on Sunday, Aug. 17th, against the University of Denver.
