LETTER: Number of Vancouver Island ridings could be reduced to 4

If Premier David Eby is serious about reducing out-of-control government spending, perhaps he should start at the top?
There are 93 MLAs in B.C. Each one represents about 54,000 constituents.
Let each one represent 100,000 constituents and cut the number of MLAs in half. For example, here on Vancouver Island, there are 15 MLAs. We only need 4. Two South Island, one Mid Island and 1 North Island.
The number of ministries is a staggering 23. Some of which seem to be invented to serve very few people. Others could be easily combined into one. For example, Emergency Management and Climate Readiness should be in with Energy and Climate Solution.
Do we really need a department of Citizens’ Services, as well as Social Development and Poverty Reduction? Combine these into one.
For Health, bring back individual Medical Services Plan premiums. Increased significantly from before and applied to higher income individuals only, or on a sliding scale.
