Now and then, an NFL draft prospect just looks like a classic Football Guy with a little bit of a wild streak.

That sentiment likely applies to 22-year-old Iowa Hawkeyes offensive tackle Gennings Dunker, who was the talk of the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine on Sunday, thanks to his glorious red-haired mullet. Factor in Dunker’s robust mustache as a good topper to his overall look, and the perfect sort of football name, and you immediately understand why Dunker became a sensation.

Let NFL Network’s Rich Eisen tell Dunker’s mullet story with a fitting monologue about the young man and his terrific, on-the-nose look for a powerful offensive lineman:

Truly, Dunker’s hair and mustache actually are works of art. There’s no better way of putting it. It is crucial, however, to note that Dunker is more than the fabulous red mane he chooses to carry with him every day.

What to know about Gennings Dunker

As a bonus to his looks, Dunker happens to be a very good football player. He was Second-team All-Big Ten in 2024 and First-team All-Big Ten in 2025. Dunker is also a very polished football player, having made 47 starts over his four seasons with Iowa. Dunker is originally from Lena, Illinois, a town on the Northwestern edge of the state, which would explain why he likely eventually went to school and play major college football in Iowa.

As for his NFL career prospects, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. ranks Dunker as the seventh-best offensive tackle in the 2026 NFL Draft class. He is likely to be an early to mid-third-round draft pick as a result. Wherever Dunker ends up, it’ll be hard not to notice his terrific mullet that he will hopefully keep long-term.
