Saskatchewan RCMP are calling on the public for information after the death of a Montreal Lake Cree Nation woman over the weekend.Â
Police received a report of an injured person Sunday shortly after 2 a.m. at a residence on the First Nation, according to a news release from RCMP.Â
Officers arrived at the residence where they found an injured woman and began providing medical attention, the release added.Â
Police said that paramedics declared the woman deceased shortly after they arrived and her death was deemed suspicious.Â
The woman has been identified as Tanya Roberts from Montreal Lake Cree Nation.Â
The RCMP said the family of the 31-year-old has been notified and the homicide investigation unit (HIU) has taken over the investigation.Â
The HIU is responsible for investigating incidents such as homicides, suspicious deaths and missing persons where foul play is suspected.Â
Police said they will provide any updates to the case when possible and if there becomes an imminent risk to the public.
In the meantime, police are asking anyone with information about Robert’s death to contact them at 310-RCMP or anonymously with Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or at saskcrimestoppers.com.
