Re. recent letters about border crossing:
Border decisions are societal and political, not simply personal.
Some may remember during the boycotts of South African goods that a few shoppers took the position that, by buying their favourite products or travelling to South Africa, they supported hurting non-white Africans.
The ANC responded by stating that boycotts, divestments and sanctions were crucial tools against apartheid. Black and Coloured South Africans willingly absorbed temporary hardship with eyes on the goal.
I suggest that those wishing to maintain relationships with Americans invite them to Canada; learn to do without a few American products at present.
