A handgun and ammunition found during Brampton traffic stop.

An 18-year-old faces several charges after a loaded gun was found during a traffic stop in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police say a speeding vehicle was pulled over in the area of Kennedy Road and Clarence Road on Feb. 27.

Upon stopping the vehicle, officers searched under the Cannabis Control Act and found a loaded Glock 17 handgun and magazine with 17 rounds of ammunition.

Malachi King-Favours of Brampton faces weapon charges.

As a result, Malachi King-Favours has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
Carrying concealed weapon
Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing its possession is unauthorized
Careless driving

King-Favours was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
