LETTERS: It’s time to clean up the ‘mess’ that Surrey has become

Editor,

I totally agree with Trina Allen about the mess we have right now in Surrey.

Why does the mayor not do something about the drug use, garbage, and feces dotting our landscapes in and around Surrey?

I live in Cloverdale, and even here I’ve seen the same things happening. We have homeless people who are doing drugs next to elementary schools, and as I live near three elementary schools myself, this is a travesty and should be stopped immediately.

I used to love living in Cloverdale, and have lived here for over 20 years now, but this is horrible, what is happening around us now.

All levels of government should step up, provide permanent shelter and counselling for the homeless, get a cleanup crew going to all the neighbourhoods and clean up the mess. We live not far from the huge power poles going all the way down to the States. There are garbage piles in there, mattresses, store buggies etc. all over the place.

I agree about stopping to pay our taxes too; if we can’t live in a clean, safe environment, then people should start moving out of Surrey.

Would the mayor, premier or prime minister live in a place with garbage and drugs right outside their door? I think not!
