Environment Canada has pulled back an air quality warning that was in effect for Toronto on Wednesday due to “high levels” of pollution.

Other parts of the Greater Horseshoe, including Hamilton, Peel Region and Halton Region were also under the same air quality warning.

“Light winds and stagnating weather conditions are expected to cause increasing levels of fine particles and nitrogen dioxide in the above regions,” Environment Canada said at the time the yellow-level warning was issued.

“When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors.”

Due to the conditions, some may have experienced eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches and mild cough.

The national weather agency noted that conditions would improve early Thursday morning.

Toronto will see a high of 1 C on Thursday with periods of rain beginning late in the afternoon. There will also be a risk of freezing drizzle.

On Friday, it will be cloudy with a high of 6 C and a 60 per cent chance of showers in the evening.
