Police in Arizona have arrested NBA star Dillon Brooks.

The 30-year-old basketball player from Mississauga, currently with the Phoenix Suns, was initially pulled over by police in the early hours this morning (March 6) for a traffic violation. However, he was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to the American media site TMZ, Brooks was taken to a Scottsdale, AZ, jail, processed, and then released from custody.

Police told TMZ that Brooks was “respectful and cooperative” throughout the ordeal.

Brooks is currently enjoying a breakout season for the Suns, where he is averaging a career-high 20.9 points per game, 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

He has been unable to play for the past several weeks because of a fractured hand.

A professional since 2017, the 6-foot-7, 225 lb Brooks is known as one of the fiercest competitors in the NBA and is considered one of the game’s top defensive players.

Although he grew up in Mississauga, Brooks played some of his high school basketball at Father Henry Carr in Toronto before heading south of the border to advance his training.
