AVONDALE, Ariz. – The NASCAR O’Reilly Series is visiting

its first traditional oval of the 2026 campaign this weekend at Phoenix Raceway

.

Festivities started with practice and qualifying on Friday evening.

That meant Corey Day was back behind the wheel of the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet and yet again in the young season, he was fast

. Among the last to lay down a lap, Day turned in a time of 27.758 seconds, good enough for the eighth spot on the starting grid.

Day enters the weekend in the eighth spot in the NOAPS points standings, coming off back-to-back, top-five finishes. He will make his second start in the series at the 1-mile oval

after finishing 14th in the season finale last season.

The NOAPS race is set for a 7:30 p.m. start on Saturday and will air on CW

.
