Thunderstorms with rainfall up to 25 mm possible and foggy conditions with near-zero visibility have led to weather notices issued in southern Ontario.
Environment Canada has issued a yellow fog advisory for southern Ontario, including Mississauga, Brampton, Halton Hills and Burlington, and says locally dense fog is expected on Friday night.
“Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced at times,” the weather agency says.
Travel could be hazardous in some locations. The fog is expected to dissipate overnight or early Saturday morning as winds shift to the southwest.
There’s also a rainfall advisory due to thunderstorms in the Greater Toronto Area. Rainfall between 15 to 25 mm is expected in Mississauga and Brampton, with locally higher amounts possible.
Showers and isolated thunderstorms combined with mild temperatures will likely melt much of the snowpack and lead to additional runoff, the weather agency says.
The rain is expected to last through to Saturday evening.
