Manchester United are not looking to appoint Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti as their next manager, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
The Old Trafford side were linked with a surprise move for the Italian manager in recent weeks, but it appears no conversations regarding Ancelotti’s return to the Premier League are taking place.
Instead, Romano claims the 66-year-old tactician is in advanced talks to extend his stay as Brazil coach, potentially until the end of the 2030 World Cup.
Ancelotti only took charge of the Selecao in May last year and secured four wins in his first eight games.
Carlo Ancelotti Not on Man Utd Shortlist

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Manchester United are not targeting Ancelotti, nor England boss Thomas Tuchel as their potential next managers:
“I wanted to tell you, since some of you keep asking me about Thomas Tuchel and Carlo Ancelotti as candidates for the Manchester United job. […]
“Carlo Ancelotti remains in advanced talks with the Brazilian federation to sign a new contract and it’s not until 2028, it would be until 2030, so until the next World Cup.
“Imagine how happy he can be with Brazil and how the Brazilian Federation is happy with Ancelotti.
“So no contacts underway between Manchester United and Ancelotti. No contacts underway between Manchester United and Tuchel. They are both expected to continue their national teams.”
Tuchel, who has also been linked with the Old Trafford role in the past, extended his contract as England manager through to Euro 2028 last month.
United are expected to be on the lookout for a new permanent manager after the season, unless interim boss Michael Carrick manages to convince the club hierarchy.
The Red Devils went unbeaten in their first seven games under Carrick, before losing 2-1 to Newcastle on Wednesday.
Patrice Evra Tips Man Utd to Appoint Enrique

Former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has tipped the club to hire Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique, saying the Spaniard would be a ‘dream’ appointment.
Evra has shared his view on the type of manager the Red Devils should target next and praised Enrique for his recent success in France, where he won the treble last season.
The Frenchman has also not ruled out his former United teammate Carrick staying in the role long-term after his ‘great’ start to life at Old Trafford.
Enrique, widely regarded as one of the best managers in the world, is under contract with PSG until the end of the 2026/27 season.
