Conor McGregor continues to plot his comeback, but he still doesn’t have a date or an opponent for his next fight.
UFC CEO Dana White addressed the rumors regarding McGregor and confirmed talks have started with the Irish superstar about his next fight, but a timetable for his return is remains unclear.
“No [update] but we are definitely talking to Conor obviously,” White said at the UFC 326 post-fight press conference. “Not even close [to a timetable for his return]. We have no date for Conor right now. Not even close.”
McGregor hasn’t fought since 2021 when he suffered a horrific broken leg during his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. His recovery took years, but McGregor planned to come back in June 2024 at UFC 303 after coaching a season of The Ultimate Fighter opposite Michael Chandler. However, just a few weeks out from that fight, McGregor suffered a broken toe in training that forced him off the card.
Since then, McGregor has stayed busy with work outside the octagon including becoming a part owner of BKFC. The UFC White House card got McGregor excited enough to get back to training full time, but he’s not participating at that historic event on June 14.
Negotiations are still ongoing for McGregor to fight again and there’s no telling how soon a deal might get struck to book him on a specific date or with any particular opponent for his return.
