NASCAR fans watching Sunday’s race broadcast from Phoenix are concerned about Larry McReynolds.

The analyst appeared on camera before the race with a side of his face drooping, and it caused race viewers to take to social media and wonder about a stroke.

As something noticeable, and with the size of Fox broadcast crews and staff, it seems highly unlikely something like that would go unnoticed.

It likely is a different situation for McReynolds.

What’s wrong with Larry McReynolds?

Commentors on Reddit have come up with a more likely explanation here: Bell’s Palsy.

Bell’s Palsy is a temporary paralysis or weakness of one side of the face. It’s caused by an inflamed nerve, which can be impacted by viral infections.

Mayo Clinic says most people take three to six weeks to recover.

Nothing has been said publicly, so it’s hard to know for sure what may or may not be going on with McReynolds.

It’s certainly notable that fans are concerned, but because it’s a noticeable ailment, it’s not something the Fox crew would just be igorning.

Most likely, they know exactly what it is and are comfortable having McReynolds on set and working anyway.

This is McReynolds’ 26th season as a NASCAR analyst at Fox.
