A 17-year-old is facing more than a dozen charges in connection with two gunpoint carjackings involving ride-share vehicles in Brampton last week.

Peel police said the first incident occurred on March 1, shortly before 8 p.m., on Cedar Lake Crescent.

“The suspect, posing as a customer and wearing a face covering, pulled out a handgun and demanded that the victim get out of the vehicle before fleeing in it,” police said in a news release on Tuesday.

The next incident happened the following day on Salisbury Circle shortly after 11 p.m.

Police said the suspect allegedly robbed a second driver at gunpoint and fled in the victim’s vehicle.

Officers responded and found the second vehicle nearby. Police said the suspect fled on foot and, during that time, allegedly discarded a loaded firearm.

Officers arrested the suspect a short time later.

In a news release on Tuesday, police announced the 17-year-old suspect from Brampton had been charged with 10 counts of firearm-related offences and two counts each of robbery, disguise with intent, possession of property obtained by crime, failure to comply with a release order, and failure to comply with a sentence or disposition.

The suspect cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
