Police close Highway 17 and 104 Avenue in Surrey due to a crash

Two people were taken to the hospital, one in serious condition, after a vehicle crash in the 11400-block of Highway 17 in Surrey on Wednesday afternoon (March 11).

Four ambulances, a paramedic specialist response unit, a low acuity response unit and a paramedic supervisor responded to the scene, said Brian Twaites, BCEHS Paramedic Public Information Officer. The other person is in stable condition, Twaites noted.

Police in Surrey closed westbound Highway 17 at 104 Avenue as they investigated a collision. The road is expected to be closed for several hours, police said around 1 p.m. Wednesday (March 11).

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area. DriveBC noted that both westbound lanes were blocked, and the left eastbound lane was blocked as well. Cameras show westbound traffic being diverted onto 104 Avenue.
