SURREY Police Service has announced that Highway 17 at 104 Avenue has been reopened to traffic following the multi-vehicle collision earlier on Wednesday afternoon.

“It may take some time for backed up traffic to resolve itself and motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes for the time being,” said SPS Staff-Sgt. Lindsey Houghton, Senior Media Relations Officer.

On March 11, at approximately 12:20 p.m., RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) members attended Highway 17 near 104 Avenue regarding a multi-vehicle collision. Upon arrival, SPOSU members located a semi-truck and two cars that had been involved in a collision.

Surrey Fire Services and BCEHS attended the scene and BCEHS transported two people to an area hospital with various injuries, including at least one in serious, but stable, condition. SPS has received no updates regarding the conditions of those transported to hospital. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
