UConn sensation Azzi Fudd and her fellow Huskie alum Paige Bueckers have taken their relationship public, with Fudd flaunting a phone case that reads: “Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend.”
Since being selected first overall by the Dallas Wings in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Bueckers has been more candid about her romance with Fudd. With a stellar start to the season, earning her a starting spot for Team Collier at the WNBA All-Star game in Indiana, Bueckers faced a playful interrogation from the popular social media channel ‘Wagtalk’ on how well she knows her partner.
The term ‘Wag’ refers to wives and girlfriends. This light-hearted quiz followed the announcement of Caitlin Clark’s replacement due to injury.

The questions began simply enough. “What high school did [Fudd] go to?” Bueckers nailed it with St. John’s.
“What year did she win Gatorade Player of the Year?” Again, Bueckers was spot on: 2019.
“Where was she ranked in the class of 2021?” Bueckers aced it: number 1.
“What year did she get her first collegiate start?” The Dallas standout proved she knows her significant other well: freshman year.

Bueckers breezed through queries about the t-shirt Fudd’s mom sported at the national championship, where her dad played college hoops, the inspiration behind Fudd’s name, the accolade she snagged post-national championship, and the statement on Fudd’s phone case.
Bueckers got one question wrong: which WNBA team selected Fudd’s mother in the draft? She correctly recognized it was a franchise that no longer exists, but she guessed the Charlotte Sting instead of the correct answer, the Sacramento Monarchs.
The duo first crossed paths during a 2017 Team USA journey, finding themselves seated together on the flight back from Argentina. They dedicated considerable time to training alongside each other before both pledged their commitment to UConn.
Fudd earned Most Outstanding Player honors at the 2025 NCAA Final Four after topping the championship game in points scored. She’ll be heading back to UConn for her senior season this fall.
Bueckers has gotten off to a solid beginning with the Wings, although her team suffered a narrow 90-86 defeat to the Las Vegas Aces on Wednesday, dropping their record to 6-17.
“I think we could have crowded the paint a little bit more, made [A’ja Wilson] kick it, made her give it to her teammates,” Bueckers said postgame.
“She’s one of the best players in the league, so she’s hard to stop, and you won’t stop her, but to try to make things a little bit more difficult and limit her from getting to her spot so easily.”
