Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy inaugurated Allu Cinemas in Kokapet this evening. One of the four screens features Dolby Cinemas which is only the third in India. It is also the world’s third largest Dolby Cinema and India’s largest.
The launch event was telecast live but one video from the event made sure Allu Cinemas was in news for not a good reason.
There is a wall in the balcony of the lounge where there are pictures of the great directors of all Indian languages.
We can see the pictures of SS Rajamouli, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Prashant Neel, Rishab Shetty, Vetrimaran, Atlee, Maniratnam, Trivikram, Sukumar, Raj Kumar Hirani, and others.
But the choice of these pictures in the video we have has come under criticism. Some directors appearing on the wall after delivering just a couple of commercial blockbusters has become a talking point.
The absence of Shankar has also raised eyebrows if the idea is about celebrating commercial directors of this era.
The absence of Puri Jagannadh and Srinu Vaitla has also been highlighted considering they delivered several modern-day classics.
There is also criticism that the list looks like Allu Arjun’s favorites and directors he has worked with or may work with in the future.
The absence of Boyapati and Puri Jagannadh, who contributed to his mass image, is also being discussed.
Atlee’s presence has also become a debate point as he is currently working with Allu Arjun on a film.
Social media users are dissecting the choice of pictures and debating why some names made the list while others did not.
This is completely unavoidable.
Initially, there was outrage for not having the pictures of legendary directors. But there is another wall with the pictures of K Vishwanath, Dasari, K Balachander, and Raghavendra Rao.

Even then, the absence of other legends like KV Reddy, Jandhyala, Kodanda Rami Reddy, and Singeetham Srinivasa Rao has also been discussed.
Basically, there will be no end to such controversies. So, it is always best to avoid such ideas as it is impractical to have everyone’s photos.
Otherwise, it would be better to clearly reveal all the special walls with photo frames of legends as well as current generation filmmakers so that the complete picture is visible.
When only a small portion of such walls is shown, it easily leads to unnecessary assumptions and debates on social media.
