The massive Surrey Mayor’s Cup soccer tournament is played here this weekend, Friday to Sunday (March 13-15).

The 2026 edition will involve 482 teams in 982 games in multiple divisions organized by tourney host Surrey Football Club (FC), at fields in Surrey, Delta and Burnaby.

“Players, coaches, and families from across the region and beyond will take to the pitch for one of Canada’s largest and most exciting spring tournaments,” the club notes. “The fields are ready, the teams are arriving, and the action starts tomorrow. Good luck to all teams competing!”

As a result, Surrey hotels, motels and restaurants will be busy on the first weekend of spring break.

The tourney welcomes players, families and coaches from B.C., Alberta, Ontario, Washington and Idaho. Newton Athletic Park is where most games are played, with action in U8 to U18 divisions (age eight to 18).

“With 235 traveling teams coming to Surrey, the tournament transforms the city into a true football hub, showcasing diverse playing styles and incredible young talent,” tournament organizers say.

Close to three dozen volunteers pack and deliver tournament kits across multiple fields weeks in advance, and line fields so games can happen.

This fall, from Oct. 6-12, Newton Athletic Park will welcome 24 of the top U-15 soccer teams (representing each province) to a pair of national championship tournaments, for girls and boys divisions.
