Wilfrid Laurier quarterback Callum Wither is transferring to Maryland in the NCAA, according to TSN’s Farhan Lalji.
The Waterloo, Ont. native only spent one season in U Sports with the Golden Hawks after replacing 2024 Hec Crighton Trophy winner Taylor Elgersma, and it was a great one.
Wither led the country with 26 passing touchdowns while only posting four interceptions, to go along with 2,472 passing yards and a 72.7 per cent completion percentage, claiming first-team All-Canadian honours in the process.
Wither spent three seasons with the Ohio Bobcats before transferring north of the border, failing to see any game action while sitting behind San Francisco 49ers and Saskatchewan Roughriders draft pick, and fellow Canadian pivot, Kurtis Rourke.
Wither now joins Hall of Fame CFL receiver Geroy Simon at Maryland, who serves as the program’s general manager and executive director for revenue management. The pivot has one year of eligibility remaining, but might be able to appeal for an additional year according to Lalji.
