According to a recent Facebook post, conservation officers are on the lookout after a poaching incident earlier this week.
The Sasktip Facebook page says that on March 10, officers responded to a report from the previous night. In the report, witnesses say they observed a truck chasing and deliberately running over deer in a field on the outskirts of Maryfield.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the remains of two white-tailed deer, alongside the scavenged remains of a third deer. Upon inspection, evidence showed that two vehicles were involved, one of which actively pursued the animals while the other watched. Both fled once witnesses approached.
Conservation officers are now asking for public help in identifying the individuals responsible for the wildlife offence. They are offering a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest or conviction of the individuals involved.
