The WTA action at the 2026 Miami Open promises to be superb. Defending champion and last week’s BNP Paribas Open winner Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, and two-time Grand Slam titlist Coco Gauff are among those on the entry list. 13 players, including three Maor champions, withdrew from the tournament in Florida. Emma Raducanu made a late decision to withdraw from the Miami Open. She has been struggling with an illness, and determined that it was too severe to compete. That move comes a few days after the 2021 US Open champion was thrashed 1-6 1-6 by Amanda Anisimova at the BNP Paribas Open. Raducanu should be healthy again for the clay-court swing, which starts next month.

Barbora Krejcikova was the second player to withdraw from the Miami Open. The 2024 Wimbledon winner last competed in Dubai, beating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. She then could not play in the next round due to a left thigh injury, did not participate in the BNP Paribas Open, and remains sidelined by that issue.

Marketa Vondrousova was the third Grand Slam champion who will not play at the tournament. The Czech has been sidelined by a persistent shoulder problem since January. It caused her to miss the Australian Open, and the 2023 Wimbledon winner will be absent for a fourth consecutive WTA 1000 event in 2026.

Former World No. 1 Karolina Pliskova was the fourth player to withdraw from the Miami Open. After missing almost the entire 2025 season with a severe left ankle injury, she made her return at the start of this year. Sadly, the two-time Grand Slam runner-up retired from her round-of-16 match in Dubai against Karolina Muchova with another injury, and she is still recovering from it.

Emma Navarro was the sole American to withdraw. She lost an epic battle against Sonay Kartal at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells in a deciding set tiebreak. That continued her challenging start to 2026. No official reason has been given for her decision, and she may want a break after her difficult start to the year.

Lois Boisson, Maya Joint, Julia Grabher, Sonay Kartal, Daria Kasatkina, Veronika Kudermetova, Wang Yafan, and Oksana Selekhmeteva are the other players confirmed not to be playing in Florida.
