Brampton Councillor Michael Palleschi will serve a third term as chair of Credit Valley Conservation.

A Brampton city councillor has been named as chair of Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) for an unprecedented third term.

Michael Palleschi, a Brampton Peel Regional councillor, was acclaimed to the position at a recent meeting of the agency’s board of directors.

The CVC is a local conservation authority that oversees, manages and protects the Credit River Watershed and protects people and property from natural hazards such as flooding and erosion while conserving natural resources.

Palleschi has been a member of CVC’s board since 2015, and approval was needed from the Ontario Ministry of Environment to allow him to take the position for a third term. Generally, the current limit for a board chair is two one-year terms.

“I’m grateful for the confidence placed in me to continue as chair for a third term at such a pivotal moment for conservation authorities,” said Councillor Palleschi. “With the Minister’s exemption, our board can maintain continuity. I remain committed to ensuring strong governance and a smooth path forward that protects our watershed, strengthens our partnerships, and supports the communities we serve.”

The CVC Board of Directors also acclaimed Alvin Tedjo, Mississauga Ward 2 Councillor and Peel Regional Councillor, as vice-chair.

Councillor Palleschi has served as a Brampton and Peel Regional Councillor for over 10 years. He has also served on the CVC Foundation board. This is Councillor Tedjo’s first term as vice-chair. He has been a member of CVC’s Board of Directors since January 2023.

This year’s Board of Directors includes returning members from municipal councils throughout the watershed:

Tom Adams, Town of Oakville
Dipika Damerla, City of Mississauga
Stephen Dasko, City of Mississauga
Michael Dehn, Town of Erin
Christina Early, Town of Caledon
Dennis Keenan, City of Brampton
Ann Lawlor, Town of Halton Hills
Andy MacIntosh, Town of Orangeville
Brad Butt, City of Mississauga
Fred Nix, Township of Mono
Michael Palleschi, City of Brampton
