SENIORS SCENE: Sign up for spring programs in White Rock

• The Kent Street Seniors Society is holding an indoor spring garage sale on Saturday, April 18, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Kent Street Activity Centre auditorium. Spend a fun Saturday shopping for unique treasures and supporting the centre’s fundraiser. If you would like to book a table for only $25 to sell your goods, please call 604-541-2199. The Kent Street Centre coffee shop will also be open for lunch.

• Register now for all spring White Rock Recreation and Culture programs and activities. Register online at whiterockcity.ca/register, by phone at 604-541-2199 or in person at the Kent Street Activity Centre, White Rock Community Centre and Centennial Park Leisure Centre. Don’t miss out on all the amazing classes, workshops and day excursions being offered this spring.

• Bridge game anyone? White Rock Recreation and Culture hosts numerous bridge groups at three recreation centres for all levels of play. For dates, times and locations pick up a Spring Recreation Guide, call 604-541-2199 or check out online at whiterockcity.ca/guide for more information. Try out a bridge group three times free with a guest pass before purchasing a Kent Street Activity Centre membership. The cost of a year membership is only $44.

• What are you doing to reduce your risk and improve your driving? Assess your driving skills and habits and update your knowledge of vehicle safety features and road regulations at a Senior Driving Workshop on March 31 at the White Rock Community Centre. This free workshop is co-sponsored with the White Rock Community Policing, the RCMP and the Semiahmoo Community Safety Society. Call 604-541-2199 to register.

• The Kent Street Activity Centre invites all Cribbage, Bid Whist and Canasta players to their activity group every Thursday from 1 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. in the auditorium. Don’t forget that all newcomers are welcome to a three-visit guest pass before purchasing a Kent Street Activity Centre membership. There is lots of room for more players, so drop in any Thursday afternoon and give us a try.

• Sign up now for light activity, laughter and friendship in Scottish Walk-a-Dance 55+, a new program starting April 20 at the Kent Street Activity Centre. Dance to easygoing reels, jigs, strathspeys, and waltzes – perfect for all levels. No experience or partner required. Call 604-541-2199 to register, or online at whiterockcity.ca/register.

• Every Friday afternoon, from 2 to 4 p.m., you are invited to join the Kent Street Activity Centre’s Stitch & Chat group and work on your own needlecraft, knitting, or quilting project in the company of others. This is a great opportunity to socialize with others, meet new friends, and share ideas. Call 604-541-2199 for more information.

• See you Wednesday, March 25, at the Kent Street Activity Centre Auditorium for a night of social dancing to the great sounds of the Alpiners. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with dancing from 7 to 9:30 p.m. On April 1, Brian Zalo will be performing. Open to all ages 50+, singles, couples. A fun night out for only $7 for Kent Street Activity Centre members and $9 for non-members.
