The grandchildren of a retired Brampton truck driver are hoping for some presents following his second big lottery win.

Lawrence Wagner has been playing OLG games for more than 40 years, and says checking his tickets gives hims something to do since he retired from truck driving.

He cashed in big in 2021 with a $225,000 win playing the Instant Big Spin game, and won another big payday in the Feb. 25 Poker Lotto draw.

“There were so many zeros that I didn’t understand what was happening at first,” Wagner said while picking up his winnings at the OLG prize centre in Toronto. “I just stood there in silence, frozen in time, trying to process it.”

He matched five of five cards in the draw, winning a $100,000 prize.

Wagner said he called his son to deliver the good news, even if it was 5 a.m.

The proud grandfather also told his grandchildren about his win, and says they have “a list of gifts they want from Grandpa.”

“Everyone’s excited. It was wonderful sharing the news with them,” he said.

Poker Lotto offers both in-store wins  and nightly prize draws of up to $100,000 with each $2 play. The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.

The winning ticket was purchased at Kitchen Food Fair on Chinguacousy Road in Brampton.
