A suspect was arrested after a robbery at the Chevron Gas station on Vista Trail in Blackfalds on March 6.
The investigation into the robbery showed that two masked men in winter clothing and one carrying what looked like a handgun entered the store and stole cash and cigarettes.
The suspects were then last seen crossing Vista Trail and were believed to have fled in a vehicle.
On March 18, with assistance from the Edmonton Police Service Robbery Section and Tactical Unit, Blackfalds RCMP executed a search warrant at an Edmonton residence.
Inside the residence, 30-year-old Edmonton resident Joshua Sweeney was arrested and has been charged with armed robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, and mischief.
Sweeney was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody.
He will make a court appearance on March 24 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
A warrant for the arrest of the second suspect, 31-year-old Edmonton resident Gerard Pariseau, has been issued.
The Edmonton Police Service was an integral part of the successful conclusion of the investigation, Cpl. Dallas Traill of the Blackfalds General Investigation Section said
“This investigation is a great example of how collaboration between the RCMP and Edmonton Police Service leads to meaningful results.”
