Fallon crafted a thank-you note ― a very sarcastic one.
Taking pen to paper in one of his frequent bits, the comedian said as he scribbled away, “Thank you, Trump’s strategy with the Iran war, for being just like families on Father’s Day: no plans.”
Trump has taken heat for shifting comments on his reasons for starting the war and when and how it will end. No matter the answer, it looks like it’s going to be expensive. Trump and the defense secretary recently asked Congress for an additional $200 billion to cover the military operation.
In his monologue, Fallon tweaked the president for one of the side effects of the conflict.
“Of course, the war continues to drive up oil prices, but Trump downplayed it, saying that he actually expected them to be worse,” Fallon began. “Although it wasn’t a great sign that he said that from the back of an Uber Pool.”
