A generous donation is helping expand cardiac care services at Boundary Trails Health Centre.

The late Bill Lyne and his wife Colleen made a $750, 000 contribution through the Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation to support a new echocardiography suite at the hospital. The new space will help provide cardiac imaging closer to home for residents across southern Manitoba.

Gift aimed at improving local access to care

Menno Hiebert, speaking on behalf of the Lyne family, says the couple had long believed that people in the region should not always have to travel to Winnipeg for specialized medical services.

“They always were interested in helping people that they don’t always have to drive to Winnipeg for everything,” said Hiebert.

He says the echocardiography suite reflects that goal by allowing patients to receive important heart testing closer to home.

“With that echocardiogram room that she provided, that is what it’s going to save, a lot of trips to Winnipeg,” he added. “That was what her intentions were.”
