Police have charged a Mississauga man and say a London woman is wanted after a handgun was found in a Toronto hotel.

The arrest happened on Sunday around 3 p.m. when officers responded to a “suspicious incident” in the area of King Street West and Blue Jays Way, the Toronto Police Service says.

A handgun was found in a hotel in the area, and police say a 30-year-old man from Mississauga was arrested and charged with multiple offenses.

A 31-year-old London woman is also wanted on firearm offenses.

Toronto police say Malek El Sayah, 30, of Mississauga, has been charged with possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, three counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and other offenses.

He was scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday.

Daniela Young, 31, of London, Ontario, is wanted for possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possessio of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of prohibited/restricted weapon or prohibited device knowing no authority (over capacity magazine), and possession of a firearm while prohibited.
