ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Winning its last 10 matches, The Navy women’s tennis team (15-4, 2-0 PL) will look to continue the streak this week with a pair of tough contests, hosting Delaware (12-3, 1-2 CUSA) in a non-conference match Wednesday afternoon at the Fluegel-Moore Tennis Stadium before traveling to Patriot League foe Boston University (4-9, 2-0 PL) on Saturday afternoon at the Winchester Indoor Tennis Club in Winchester, Mass.
The Midshipmen and Blue Hens are set for a 3:00 p.m. start outdoors in Annapolis on Wednesday, while the Mids will face off with the Terriers in a 4:00 p.m. match on Saturday.
Scouting the Mids
Leading the team with a 23-6 singles record is freshman Nicole Fu, while sophomore Emma Gu ranks second on the team with a 21-9 singles record and junior Olivia Fermo holds a 20-7 singles mark … Gu has a team-high 11-4 singles record this spring … Fermo and Fu have partnered to post a team-leading 15-9 doubles record … Junior Anna Jordaan and sophomore Peyton Amspacher-Philemon have notched a 9-2 doubles mark together, including a perfect 6-0 record as the No. 2 pairing … Overall, Fermo and Fu each have a team-best 16 doubles wins.
Streaks A’Plenty
Navy’s 10-match winning streak marks the program’s longest since 2020, when the Mids put together an 11-match run from Feb. 8 to March 8 … The current stretch marks the sixth winning streak of 10-or-more matches in program history … Peyton Amspacher-Philemon has won her last 12 singles matches, while fellow sophomore Grace Li has eight-match singles win streaks … Philemon’s 12-match singles win streak is the longest in program history since Emily Tannenbaum’s own 12-match winning streak last season (March 1-April 25) … Li’s run marks the second time this season she has won eight-straight singles contests.

Navy has tallied an 13-1 home record this spring, including winning its last nine home matches … In addition to Peyton Amspacher-Philemon going 10-0 in her last 10 singles matches, Molly Bellia has tallied a 9-1 singles mark in her last 10 contests.
Last Time Out
Going undefeated in its opening weekend of Patriot League action, posted a dominant 7-0 sweep over Lehigh in its Patriot League opener Saturday before turning around for another 7-0 sweep the next day against Bucknell … After taking all three doubles matches against the Mountain Hawks, the Mids carried their momentum into singles play by winning five of the six matches in straight sets and Emma Gu completed the sweep with a win over returning all-league first-teamer Maggie Forkner … Securing the doubles point against Bison with wins on the second and third courts, Navy continued a dominant start to league singles play by sweeping all six flights again, with Gu capping it off by beating the league’s defending fall champion Abby Platt.

The Blue Hens enter Tuesday after a narrow 4-3 loss to FIU in conference play that snapped a nine-match winning streak by Delaware, a stretch that included wins over No. 45 Penn, Georgetown and Army … Lara Russiniello enters Tuesday on an eight-match singles winning streak to boost her singles record to a team-best 18-6, going 11-4 during the spring season … Hanna Vinahradava ranks second on the team at a 17-3 singles mark, posting a 7-2 spring singles record … Maryia Hrynashka and Paulina Jurkowska have a team-leading 17-8 doubles record, going 8-4 as the top pairing … Last season saw Delaware go 18-8 overall, tallying a 4-0 CAA record.

Despite sitting with a 2-0 league record, the Terriers enter the week on a four-game losing streak that moved them to 4-9 … Boston’s two most recent matches came against a pair of ranked opponents, dropping a 7-0 contest to No. 29 Miami earlier in the month, then suffering a close 4-3 loss to No. 38 Yale on Sunday despite Gabriella Mikaul and Nancy Liu defeating the No. 35-ranked double pair in the nation … Liu paces the team with a 14-6 singles record, including a 6-2 mark at the No. 2 spot, while Ellie Gyuro holds a 13-7 singles record … Mikaul and Liu have a team-leading 5-5 doubles mark … Last year’s Patriot League Tournament champions, Boston brings back the Rookie of the Year in Mikaul and an all-league performer in Madison Liu.
