Need a tree?

You may be eligible to receive a free one through Credit Valley Conservation (CVC).

The trees are available to homeowners is areas that are a part of the Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP) that is designed to revitalize mature areas facing environmental challenges.

These areas include Mississauga’s Cooksville SNAP, Acton SNAP, Georgetown’s Hungry Hollow SNAP, and Brampton’s Fletchers Creek SNAP and Community Tree Project neighbourhoods.

You can check you address on the CVC eligibility map by following this link.

“Enhance your yard and start building your home oasis,” the CVC says. “Homeowners in eligible neighbourhoods can request a free tree that CVC’s home planting team will deliver and help plant.”

According to the CVC, planting trees on your property helps to provide shade and privacy, adds beauty and colour, creates habitat for pollinators and birds and helps reduce the impacts of climate change.

Additional trees and shrubs can also be purchased to add more habitat and create a beautiful, resilient landscape.

The CVC can also help you determine where and what to plant to best suit your property’s conditions, your vision and your budget. Contact the CVC to ask your gardening questions.

Only properties less than one acre in size are eligible for this program. If you are a rural landowner, check out programs for properties larger than two acres.

There is a limit of one free tree per household.

The CVC home planting team will plant the free tree and teach you how to plant any additional trees or shrubs purchased through CVC.
Plants will be in two-gallon pots.
It may take up to three business days to receive your confirmation email. Unfortunately, we cannot provide free trees outside of the eligible neighbourhoods due to funding restrictions. Any households that do not qualify will be informed.
