SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women’s tennis took four of the five singles matches including the final three to defeat UC San Diego 4-2 in a nonconference match at the Degheri Tennis Center on Tuesday.     

   

HOW IT HAPPENED:


Santa Clara (5-10) got singles wins from Lizanne Boyer, Ashley Katz, Anna Rahman and Daniella Dimitrova after dropping the doubles point.  
UC San Diego (5-11) secured the doubles point when Olivia Allegre and Julia Visaya defeated Tian Yu Dong and Katz 6-4 on court one. 
The Broncos evened the match on Boyer’s straight set victory over Alisa Lansky 6-4, 6-3 on court two but the Tritons reclaimed the lead soon after at 2-1.  On court six, Visaya took down Madhu Satishbabu 6-4, 6-1 but that was the last point for the visiting team.
SCU strung together three straight victories.  Katz once again leveled the match defeating Hana Gamracy 6-4, 7-5 on court four and Rahman pulled the Broncos ahead 3-2 beating Carling Allaye-Chan 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 on court three.
The match clincher came atop the lineup as Dimitrova came back from a set down to defeat Allegre 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).
