A South Surrey author who collaborated with Star Trek’s original Lt. Sulu on a pair of graphic memoirs is set to be at Indigo – Grandview Corners next month for a book-signing.

Steven Scott is scheduled to be at the 10-2453 161A St. location from noon till 3 p.m. signing They Called Us Enemy and It Rhymes With Takei.

The first memoir shares George Takei’s childhood experiences in a Japanese American internment camp, and the second, his 2005 coming-out story, at the age of 68.

Scott has been living his dream of writing professionally for more than a decade, ever since logging his first paid gig with Archie Comics.

His name currently graces such published works as Time Buddies (released April 2025), Cat Ninja: Heart of a Hero and The Magic History Book, as well as a four-book series released last August – Sixth-Grade Shape-Shifter – that he co-created, about a kid with the ability to turn into any person or object.

He expects to debut two new books from that series this coming August.

For those who want to catch up with him but can’t make it to the April 11 signing, Scott will also be appearing at Rain City Comicon the following weekend, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 19 at The Croatian Cultural Centre (3250 Commercial Dr.) in Vancouver.
