The Indiana Fever are set to host the WNBA’s best for the first time in franchise history. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming All-Star festivities in Indianapolis.
The biggest story of the weekend: Fever guard Caitlin Clark will not participate after aggravating a groin injury in Tuesday’s defeat to the New York Liberty. Clark is one of three players selected to represent their teams who will not play due to injury. She joins Phoenix Mercury forward Satou Sabally and Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard on the sidelines.

Defending Skills Challenge winner Allisha Gray and a star-studded cast will compete in a timed obstacle course. The skills on display include dribbling, bounce passes, chest passes, outlet passes, and shooting. The two players with the fastest times in the preliminary round will advance to the finals.

Gray, who paired her Skills Challenge victory with a Three-Point Contest win in 2024, will look to defend her crown against four of the WNBA’s best shooters. It’s a timed contest that includes five shooting racks and two deep shots worth three points each. The two players with the highest scores progress to the final round.
Sabrina Ionescu set the all-time single-round record for both WNBA and NBA Three-Point Contests with her 37-point effort in the final round of the WNBA’s 2023 edition in Las Vegas.

The 2025 All-Star Game will have a special feel. Among the rule changes are a quartet of four-point circles on the court situated 28 feet from the basket. A player who makes a shot while in contact with one of the four areas will receive four points. This idea was also implemented for the 2022 game.

There will also be a 20-second shot clock, live-play substitutions similar to line changes in hockey, and no free throws permitted until the final two minutes of the fourth quarter. (Full details on the rule changes are here.)
The two starters who received the most fan votes, Indiana Fever sharpshooter Clark and Minnesota Lynx MVP favorite Napheesa Collier, were selected as team captains. The eight next-highest vote-getters were named starters.
Clark picked first from the pool of eight, opting for Fever teammate Aliyah Boston. Ionescu, reigning MVP A’ja Wilson, and Phoenix Mercury star Satou Sabally round out Team Clark’s starting five. Three first-time All-Stars will feature on the bench, including Washington Mystics rookie duo Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen.

The team will be coached by Liberty bench boss and two-time WNBA champion Sandy Brondello.
Team Collier
Collier chose Liberty icon Breanna Stewart with the second overall pick. Atlanta Dream star Gray, Seattle Storm veteran Nneka Ogwumike, and Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers round out the starters for Team Collier.
Collier also selected Lynx teammate Courtney Williams, playmaking Mercury point forward Alyssa Thomas, and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese. Reese recently became the first player in WNBA history to record six consecutive games of 15 or more rebounds.

The team will be coached by Minnesota’s Cheryl Reeve after Clark and Collier decided to swap Brondello and Reeve so the latter could be in charge of her two Lynx players. Reeve was also the coach of the U.S. Olympic team that won gold in Paris, and there was some controversy when she did not select Clark for the squad.
