The upcoming closure of a downtown parking garage for “critical” repairs will also temporary shutter the Downtown Transit Terminal until later this year, the city says.

The terminal is closing on Monday as the parking garage at 8 Nelson St. W. undergoes “critical underground parking garage repairs” starting on Monday, leading to temporary bus stops on some routes downtown.

Here are the Brampton Transit and GO Transit bus routes moving to temporary on-street bus stops starting on March 30:

Route 561 Züm Queen West Westbound – Temporary Stop on George Street, south of Nelson Street.
Route 1/1A Queen Westbound – Temporary Stop on George Street, south of Nelson Street.
Route 52 McMurchy – Temporary Stop on George Street, north of Nelson Street.
GO Transit Bus Stop – Route 31/33 towards Toronto – Temporary Stop on Main Street, north of Nelson Street.
GO Transit Bus Stop – Route 31/33 towards Guelph – Temporary Stop on Main Street, north of Theatre Lane (at Church Street).
GO Transit Bus Stop – Route 37 towards Guelph – Temporary Stop on Main Street, north of Theatre Lane (at Church Street).

The work is part of the Downtown Brampton Transit Hub project. The South Platform at the Downtown Transit Terminal will stay open, and GO Transit train platforms will not be impacted.

Construction is expected to wrap on the Nelson Square Parking garage with the platform reopened “in late summer 2026,” the city says.

There’s also an ongoing lane closure in place downtown for construction on the Riverwalk project, with one lane temporarily closed on Scott Street between Church Street and the Scott Street Bridge over Etobicoke Creek until April 1.

Transit riders needing assistance can visit the customer service counter inside the terminal or call 905-874-2999. For more route and schedule information or to plan your trip on Brampton Transit, visit www.bramptontransit.com.
