Winnipeg police say a 56-year-old man has been charged with allegedly sexually assaulting another man he met through a dating app.

WPS says in February, officers began an investigation after receiving a report of an alleged sexual assault.

The report indicates that in December 2025, the man made an acquaintance with another man on a social website, which led them to meet in person on more than one occasion.

It is believed that during one of the meetings, they were at a home in the eastern part of the city, when the one was allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted.

Through an investigation, police took 56-year-old Russell George Wyatt into custody on March 24, and have since charged him with sexual assault and administering a noxious thing with intent to aggrieve or annoy.
