Starting this June, Porter Airlines is expanding its presence in Hamilton with new routes to Ottawa and Montreal.
Porter Airlines is adding a new nonstop route connecting Hamilton and Ottawa starting June 22. The airline says service will run between John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport and Ottawa International Airport with two daily flights operated on 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft.
The airline said this week service is also expanding between John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport and Montreal Metropolitan Airport. That will also begin June 22, with flights operating 14 times per week.
The new routes give Hamilton travellers direct access to the nation’s capital, along with connections to 11 destinations through Porter’s Ottawa hub.
“Hamilton travellers can now fly seamlessly to Ottawa and easily connect to destinations across Atlantic Canada and the U.S. East Coast, including Boston and New York,” said Andrew Pierce, vice president, network planning and reporting, Porter Airlines.
Flights to Ottawa will depart Hamilton at 10:25 a.m. and 6:35 p.m., arriving in Ottawa at 11:29 a.m. and 7:39 p.m. Return flights leave Ottawa at 8:35 a.m. and 2 p.m., arriving in Hamilton at 9:43 a.m. and 3:08 p.m.
‘Unprecedented amount of new service’
Porter says flights from the new Montreal airport are now available for booking. It costs as little as $135 to Montreal and $170 for the return trip.
The new route to and from Hamilton is part of Porter’s launch of 12 routes from the Montreal-area airport, located in Longueuil and formerly known as Saint-Hubert Airport. It’s a part of a broader national rollout tied to a newly redeveloped airport on the city’s South Shore.
The airport, now referred to as Montreal Metropolitan Airport, or MET, features a newly built terminal with a compact design and open-concept layout. MET’s official airport designation code is YHU.
Porter says the economy airline’s expansion is part of this plan to have an even stronger presence across Canada.
“We are eager to begin this journey with an unprecedented amount of new service,” CEO Michael Deluce said in a statement.

The new Montreal and Ottawa services add to a growing list of destinations available from Hamilton.
Earlier this year, Porter announced it would add five weekly flights between Hamilton and St. John’s, and four weekly flights between Winnipeg starting May 15, while also doubling flights to Halifax to 14 per week. The airline is also expanding its twice-weekly seasonal service to Fort Lauderdale into a year-round offering.
According to its website, Porter also operates flights from Hamilton to Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Vancouver, Orlando, Fla., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Cancun, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
The airline launched service in Hamilton in 2025 and now operates alongside WestJet at the airport, while Air Canada offers a shuttle connection to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
