The fireworks of free agency came and went in the NFL, but we do have some notable unfinished transactional business. There are five remaining free agents unsigned from the Top 25 of Yahoo Sports’ Frank Schwab:
QB Aaron Rodgers (this might be a repeat of last season’s wait)
WR George Pickens (was given the non-exclusive franchise tag, which pretty much takes him off the market outside of a cavalier offer)
Among the players who will not be hitting the open market any time soon is Seahawks wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who reportedly agreed to a record-setting four-year, $168.8 million contract Monday. The deal makes him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history with an average annual salary of $42.15 million, signed with the club through the 2031 season.

There are also trade rumors to keep tabs on, namely what the Eagles are going to do with wideout A.J. Brown. Perhaps the trade market got reset with the Dolphins’ draft haul from the Broncos in their dealing of wideout Jaylen Waddle last week.

The Cleveland Browns reportedly modified the language of Myles Garrett’s contract, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
Garrett’s contract previously called for his option bonuses in 2026, 2027 and 2028 to be exercised by the 15th day of the league year. That date has now been pushed back to seven days before the regular season each year. This helps give the Browns more financial flexibility and cap space each year.
Garrett is the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year and broke the single-season sack record last season.

Najee Harris is looking for his next NFL home. The former Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers running back visited the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday and is planning to meet with the Las Vegas Raiders next, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Harris stacked four straight 1,000-yard rushing campaigns in Pittsburgh from 2021-24 — but never averaged more than 4.1 yards per carry in a single season during that span — before missing most of this past season in L.A. with an Achilles injury.
Harris, 28, is a former first-round pick out of Alabama.

The Detroit Lions will have kicker Jake Bates in the fold again next season. The team announced that it’s re-signed the 27-year-old Bates, who notably went from UFL standout to NFL breakout in 2024.
Bates made 89.7% of his field-goal attempts with the Lions that season, including 6-of-8 from 50-plus yards.
His conversion rate on field goals dipped to 79.4% last season, but the Lions remain confident in him.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, a vote will take place amongst the league’s 32 owners with it being a “matter of formality” that Las Vegas will get the final game of the 2028 NFL season.
It would be the second time that Allegiant Stadium has hosted a Super Bowl, following Super Bowl LVIII in Feb. 2024, which saw the Kansas City Chiefs top the San Francisco 49ers.
Allegiant Stadium has been home of the Las Vegas Raiders since 2020 — a season that featured no fans in the building due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Joe Flacco will reportedly return to the Cincinnati Bengals for his 19th NFL season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Flacco is expected to sign a deal worth $6 million, with a maximum value of $9 million, including incentives, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
The Bengals acquired Flacco from the Cleveland Browns last season following Joe Burrow’s turf toe injury and former backup Jake Browning’s struggles. Despite the team’s 1-5 record in games he started, Flacco performed well enough to earn a Pro Bowl selection for the first time in his career.

The “tush push” play has been a long-standing point of controversy over the past couple of seasons, but it will be back for the 2026 NFL season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
The play will reportedly not go up for a vote on a potential ban at the NFL owners’ meetings next week, putting it back in the mix for the Philadelphia Eagles (and whatever other team can successfully manage it) to use it in short-yardage situations.
The play survived a vote at the owners’ meetings for the 2025 season, thanks to votes in favor from the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans.
